Xavier's goth room - my room Sintlucas

    Xavier's room

We had to make a room for a character archetype. I got the type "goth". This means i have to make a goth themed room, with my room's layout as starting point in blender!
Me and my dog ran through the forest. I love running, especially when no one is around. I ran and ran and ran until the trees became a blur in my vision. I stopped and noticed my dog ran away. “Julius!”, I yelled. The only noise coming back was the rustling of the trees. I had previously put a tracker on him, since this isn’t the first time he ran way. I grabbed my phone and opened the tracking app.
“200 meters away? How could that possibly be. He was just running beside me...” The app told me to head north. As I walked closer and closer the woods got denser. The collar I bought for Julius had a beeping mechanism. I could faintly hear the beeping. As I walked towards it it got louder and louder. When I was so close (and practically going deaf from the loud beeps) it stopped.
“Julius?” Silence. I suddenly heard rustling behind me and quickly turned around. Nothing. Then behind my back I heard a loud whine. I ran through the branches to get to him. There stood my white dog, covered in black dust. He was standing in the middle of a circle of bones. “What the fuck is going on…” I got scared and didn’t immediately walk to my dear pet. I was weary someone was going to get me as well. I looked around and the coast seemed clear. I quickly darted out the bushes I was hiding in and dragged my dog by its collar out of the circle.

Back home I was puzzled. I think if I even tried to explain what happened to another person, they would not believe me. So I opened my computer to seek my answers. Apparently, this had happened to a few other people. They said their pet was suddenly gone, found again covered in black sticky dust. They commented their pet had suddenly past away. Other dogs had ran away from their owners, never to be seen again.

I woke up the next morning with no dog. No dog, but a cat.
Proces!
Here is the final room, uncolored and colored. I decided to go with black and brown since my room also has these colours and it radiates goth. I wanted to keep Xavier's love for nature present in the vines and color green around the room. I got feedback to not make the skull a white-ish color, but beige.
I thought it was a shame that my drawing designs turned out so poorly in Blender. I couldn't fix it.
Here you can see some screenshots of finished and unfinished objects. On the right side I explained how I made the terrarium. I copied the base shape and then modeled the tree and ground from there and dragged it in. I made use of the 'tools' in blender.
I wanted to try a different way to make models. I deleted a bezier curve then drew my own. I was then able to pull a plane over this curve. This is how I gave my closet it's shape.
I chose to make my room the shape of a coffin. Here i got presented with my first issue. I wanted to make an open window but the two planes didn't connect. I tried fixing this with looping the bridges, and it still was uneven. I tried to fix it but figured it didn't matter that much if the glass is blocking it. Then i tried to add a window in the wall. Yet again, the points didn't want to connect and I wasted too much time trying to get it to work. The coloring didnt work well on it either. I decided to just make a cut out in the wall, but later deleted this since it got covered by the closet.
Whimsigothic is an aesthetic that blends the dark, mysterious allure of Gothic with the whimsical charm of fairytales and various forms of folklore, embracing the beauty of the macabre and combining it with a touch of enchantment and fantasy. It is heavily inspired by the works of Tim Burton and other similiar authors. This style can be quite crowded, so I'd have to simplify the style.
Elements of nature come forward, as well as no bright lights and mood lighting.
Mood- and styleboard
This is the end result of my blocked room. I experimented with lighting in sketchfab.
This is the start of the blockout of my room. I made the walls using one object, and in the others I used seperate cubes. I learned here that you have to work with different objects and the edit modes.
We had to start by making a block-out of our own room.
https://open.spotify.com/track/6jLmHKaHW6Cy37Gp5eTD3i?si=7df20adc61804645 I chose the track 'israel' from Siouxsie and the Banshees because it's a goth band and I thought the song fit the room because of it's laid-backness.
In this period I've learned a lot about blender and I'm proud of my work. I had to approach teachers often to ask questions about the materials. I also watched quite some youtube video's and searched my questions on google. I understand how sketchfab works now and I've gotten compliments on my work from the teachers. I tried to make an 'toony' outline for my objects and understood how to make this, but didn't implement it in my design. These are a couple questions I searched up this period.
